I study how architects think inside immersive environments, combining VR, EEG and protocol analysis. I also teach urban design, sketch cities and paint.
I am an architect, researcher and tutor based in Adelaide. My PhD at the University of Adelaide’s School of Architecture and Built Environment asks how designers think, and how the space they design in changes that thinking. I study architectural design cognition inside immersive environments, bringing together virtual reality, EEG and FBS-coded protocol analysis, and I read design thinking as an assemblage of bodies, tools, environments and minds.
I tutor architecture and urban design studios, write lectures on how space shapes the mind, and work with industry on immersive technologies. Outside the lab I photograph and sketch cities and paint digitally, which is where most of my questions begin.
